A few days ago, the 2014 China (Wuxi) Wu Cultural Festival was held in Hongshan, New District. 
Wang Quan, Mayor of Wuxi, said in his speech that Wuxi is the headstream of the Wu Culture, and protecting and inheriting the Wu Culture are the historical missions of carrying forward excellent cultural traditions and the key links for Wuxi to make cultural features and manifest cultural charm. The Wu Cultural Festival cherished the memory of ethical heart of Taibo and carried forward the Wu Cultural spirits of upholding virtues, emphasizing Chinese cultures, dealing with concrete issues and making innovations through feting Taibo and recalling scholars of the past, making traditional cultures and modern civilizations enhance each other's beauty and making the Wu Culture irradiate new glories in the new historical period. 
Reportedly, themed as carrying forward socialist core values, inheriting excellent cultures in the Wu area, constructing civilized and harmonious Wuxi and propelling culture benefiting people, the Wu Cultural Festival paid attention to mass participation, marketizing operation, frugalness and characteristic creation. The opening ceremony highlighted innovation and simplicity in the festival. The feting expenditure was prepared by clan relatives in participation. And they put saving expenditure for the opening ceremony into a series of cultural activities of mass characters themed as the Wu Culture, really benefiting the masses by culture.
