東航、海航分別宣布，1月18日起乘客将可以在空中使用手机，但需设置為“飛行模式”。1月17日晚21時36分，由海口至北京的航班HU7781順利起飛。這是中国民航史上首班開放PED(便携式電子设備)使用的航班。海南航空通過広播宣布，“從現在開始，在飛行過程中，不必再関閉手机”。而東航方面，在18日零点開放PED使用。跨過零点后，MU587航班上，旅客通過机上Wi-Fi与家人视频通話。 手机“解禁”后，旅客将可使用自己手机上的娱乐内容，在提供机上WiFi的航班上，旅客還能够発WeChat，或是取得公共WiFi上的共享内容。除此之外，“空中支付”也将変為可能，机上購買纪念品、免税品等附加服務也会更便捷。
