Xinwu district steps up international cooperation

      (chinadaily.com.cn)

The Xinwu district of Wuxi, Jiangsu province welcomed its first foreign guest upon establishment – the Jinju delegation from Gyeongsangnam-do in the Republic of Korea (ROK) led by its mayor Lee Chang-hee, and signed several cooperation agreements on Feb 22.

Wang Quan, mayor of Wuxi city met with the ROK delegation and expressed a warm welcome.

The two sides signed three letters of intent for cooperation during the meeting, including an economic cooperation agreement between Wuxi and Jinju government, an exchange and cooperation agreement between Korea Creative Content Agency and Wuxi's Life Science and Technology Park, and a cross-border e-commerce agreement between Kebi Cosmetics of ROK and Wuxi-based Fengjin Imported Products Sales and Exhibition.

Since the signing of a free trade agreement between China and ROK on June 1, 2015, calling for increased cooperation between municipal governments and industrial zones in both countries, the Wuxi Xinwu district has been making efforts to seek cooperation opportunities with various ROK governments and enterprises.

On Aug 24, 2015, the Xinwu district signed an agreement with ROK's ChungBuk Free Economic Zone to set up China-ROK (Wuxi) Science and Technology Financial Service Cooperation Zone to promote bilateral cooperation in industrial development, technological and financial innovation and service trade.

On Nov 24, 2015, the Xinwu district signed an agreement with ROK's Gyeongnam government to launch cooperation between the two sides in modern service industries including tourism, health care, plastics, and cross-border e-commerce.

In less than a year, the Xinwu district has established great cooperation relationships with many ROK governments and hosted many exchange visits. The district is expected to make further progress in international cooperation in the future, said Wang at the meeting.
