Yannick's Wuxi internship life
无锡实习生活
In early march, I arrived in Shanghai: first time in China, I never learned Chinese and know almost nothing about this country. 2 months later, I can say that this experience was really amazing.
The first month, we start by learning Chinese at school with great and friendly teachers. Chinese courses were very interesting; we can easily progress in Chinese by learning in small groups. I studied with 2 friends, one French and one German guy to arrive at the end of the month to pass the test HSK2. I’m now able to understand Chinese people and to speak with them in certain situations: in restaurant, taxi, supermarket…
After this month, I started my internship in a Chinese company, DSP Electronics. I am doing my internship with another French student, Basile, a French engineer who moved to my company because the previous managers only spoke Chinese. My internship is very pleasant and I’m lucky to have managers who is able to speak English to me. One of my main missions was to develop the overseas sales by implementing a new marketing strategy. In my first week, I went to Hong Kong with my company to join China Sourcing Fair, We met people from everywhere and discussed with potential customers from the 5 continents.
My entire trip here in China was a very good experience allowing me to discover the Chinese business and to understand the Chinese management, often different from European management.
During the first months, we also had the opportunity to travel across the country. We took time with friends to discover Xi’an, Shanghai, Shenzhen. Next steps: Beijing, Tibet, Yellow Mountain…
