Our Mandarin students visiting The Wuxi Library

After the class,we took our mandarin school’s french student to wuxi Library to visit.

Wuxi library was established in 1912, it is one of the earliest public libraries in China. The new hall of the library has 1.25 million volumes of books including 300,000 ancient ones and over 20,000 volumes of local documents. Over 110,000 books were donated by the Rong family, and are housed in Rong Hall.

When we entered the library our french students was surpried by the categories book and blind people’s reading. In the library, the blind can not only read, they can also surf the Internet .Heard of the blind surf the Internet, our mandarin students do feel fresh. Reporters in Wuxi City Library blind alley, observing a blind Internet download audiobooks, listen skilled operation by touch, deeply in science and technology support, the 'reading' can be everywhere.

After we visited audio-visual area, books and reading area, electronic reading area readily available. 700 kinds of audio-visual resources, there are more than 1,200 books and a variety of books in Braille for the visually impaired readers of magazines.

According to the museum, in order to care for the blind and cultural life, the library on a regular basis for the blind storyteller, said the film, broadcast storytelling and other activities, and taught Braille typing, surfing the Internet, information access and other basic knowledge in order to facilitate the visually impaired readers in residence. The nearest reading, library services to expand outside the museum, send the book home, let the blind feel the social care and warmth.
