Today, Miss Xin, a teacher of Chinese as a foreign language in Wuxi Mandarinedu explains the story of Zilu in ancient times.

Zilu, a native of Shandong at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period. Among the disciples of Confucius, he is famous for his political affairs. Especially famous for bravery. But Zilu was very poor when he was young and lived on coarse grain and wild vegetables for many years.

Once, the old parents wanted to eat rice, but there was no rice at home. What should they do? Zilu thought that if he crossed several mountains to borrow some rice from his relatives, he would not be able to meet his parents'requirements.

So, Zilu climbed over mountains and ridges for more than ten miles, returned a small bag of rice from his relatives'home, and saw that his parents had eaten delicious rice, Zilu forgot fatigue. The neighbours all praised Zilu as a brave and filial child.

There is an old saying in China: "All kindness and filial piety are the first". It means that filial piety is the first of all virtues. It's hard to imagine a person who loves his motherland and people if he doesn't know how to be filial to his parents.

The ancients said, "Old I am old, as well as old people; young I am young, as well as young people". We should not only honor our parents, but also respect other old people, care for young children, and create a kind and honest folk custom of respecting the old and loving the young in the whole society. This is the responsibility of our people in the new Era.
