Once upon a time, there was a man who was very foolish and liked to take advantage of small gains. Whatever he likes, he always tries his best to get it, even to steal it.

On one occasion, he saw the new bell hanging at the door of his neighbour was very lovely. The bell was exquisitely made and its voice was very loud, so that it could be heard far away. So he was touched. As he walked, he thought, "How can I get it?" Finally, he decided to wait until nobody was there and steal it.

He knew that if he touched the bell with his hand, it would ring jingled. When the bell rings, it will be found out, and then it will not be able to get the bell. What should I do? He thought hard and never thought of a good way. A friend of his helped him to make an idea and said, "As long as you hide your ears, can't you hear the bell?" He was greatly inspired by the idea. He thought that as long as he covered his ears, he could not hear the bell. So he used this method to steal the bell fancy himself clever .

One night, he crept to his neighbor's door by the moonlight.  but the bell was too high to reach, so he had to go back in dismay.

The next night, with his stool, he crept up to his neighbor's door again. He stepped on the stool, covered his ears with one hand and picked the bell with the other. Who knows that as soon as he touched the bell, it rang. The ringing of the bell awakened the sleeping people, and they came out dressed to see what was going on. The neighbor stepped forward and caught the man stealing the bell on the spot. The man looked at everyone and asked strangely, "I've covered my ears. How can you hear me?"

This story tells us that the sound of a bell is objective, whether you cover your ear or not, it will ring. It is self-deceiving to ignore and study the reality of objective existence and adopt a closed-eye attitude, which will eventually lead to bitter consequences for oneself.
