Sun Bin was a military strategist during the Warring States Period. He had a good relationship with General Tianji of Qi State. Tianji often races with King Qiwei in three grades. In the race, the superior horse compete with the superior horse, the medium horse compete with the middle horse, and the inferior horse compete with the inferior horse. Because the horses of each rank of King Qiwei were stronger than Tianji's, Tianji was defeated repeatedly.

Sun Bin knew that when he saw King Qiwei's horse did not run very fast than tianji's horse.  he said to Tianji, "You can compete with him again. I have a way to make you win."

On the day of the horse race, both sides made thousands of bets. With a gong and drum, the game began. Sun Bin let Tianji use the inferior horse to align the superior horse of King qiwei first, and Tianji lost the first game.

Then there's the second game. Sun Bin let Tian Ji take the top horse to the middle horse of King Qiwei, and Tian Ji won the second game. King Qiwei was a little worried.

In the third game, TiJi's middle horse won the second one against King Qiwei's inferior horse. Now King Qiwei was startled. As a result, TianJi lost two games and won Qiwei Wang.
