本末倒置

战国时期，齐王派使者出使赵国，专门准备了一封向赵威后请安的书信，使者正在取书信的时候，赵威后就迫不及待地问使者：“今年地里的收成怎么样？人民的生活怎么样？齐王的身体还好吗？”

使者有点不高兴：“我奉王命来向您请安，您怎么不先关心大王，却先问收成和人民的生活，把我们大王放在最后，是不是有点尊卑颠倒哦？”

赵威后笑了：“此言差矣！如果收成不好，百姓的生活就会成问题，百姓是国家之本，没有百姓哪有君王？假如我先关心君王，那才叫本末倒置呢。”

전국시대에 제왕이 조나라에 사자를 보내고 특별히 조위후한테 문안하는 편지를 준비했다. 그 사자가 편지를 꺼나고 있을 때, 조위후는 "올해 밭 수확이 어떠냐? 인민의 생활은 어떻습니까?제왕의 몸은 괜찮습니까?"

사자는 좀 언짢아했습니다. "제가 왕명을 받들어서 인사드리는데, 당신은 어찌하여 먼저 대왕에게 관심을 가지지 않고, 수확과 인민의 생활에 대해 먼저 묻고, 우리 대왕을 마지막에 두는 것이 좀 존비전하지 않겠습니까?”

조위후는 "그 말이 틀렸다!수확이 나쁘면 백성의 삶이 문제가 되고 백성이 나라의 근본인데 백성이 없으면 왕이 어디 있겠는가?만일 내가 먼저 왕에게 관심을 갖는다면 본말이 전도된 것이다.”
