Wuxi municipal government and party committee announced the establishment of the city's Xinwu District at the inauguration ceremony held on Feb 21.
Wei Duo was assigned as party committee secretary of Wuxi High-tech Development Zone and Xinwu District at the meeting.
By the end of 2015, the State Council approved the initiative issued by Jiangsu government to adjust Wuxi's administrative divisions, setting up Xinwu District with its government located in No. 28 Xin'an Street, Hefeng Road.
The establishment of Xinwu District generally improves Wuxi New District's management and regulation capacity, improves the comprehensive service ability and optimizes the city's spatial layout.
The word "Xinwu", reflecting "virtue, culture, pragmatism and creativity", implies a glorious future of the district.
Liangxi District officially listed and established
The Wuxi Municipal Party Committee held the establishment convention of Liangxi District in Wuxi on the morning of February 20. Following slow pull of red satin by Li Xiaomin, a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Standing Committee and Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, the Committee of Liangxi District in Wuxi of the CPC (Communist Party of China) officially appeared. Wang Quan, Deputy Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Wuxi, chaired the convention and read out the Notice on Adjusting Part Administrative Regions in Wuxi released by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. Yao Jianhua, Director of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress, Zhou Minwei, Chairperson of the Wuxi Municipal Committee under the CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), Xu Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, Huang Qin, a member of the Wuxi Municipal Party Standing Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor of Wuxi, and Zhang Yefei, a member of the Wuxi Municipal Party Standing Committee, Secretary General of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Politics and Law Committee of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, attended the convention. Zhu Jingsong, a member of the Wuxi Municipal Party Standing Committee and Minister of the Organization Department of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, read out the decision about establishing the Liangxi District Party Committee of the CPC and relevant personnel appointment decision(s) made by the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee.
In line with official replies of the State Council and the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, it's agreed to revoke Chong'an District, Nanchang District and Beitang District of Wuxi, establish Liangxi District in Wuxi, and regard original administrative regions of Chong'an District, Nanchang District and Beitang District as the administrative region of Liangxi District, while the Liangxi District People's Government will be stationed in No. 688, Jiefang South Road, Chong'an Temple Residential Street.
Li Xiaomin pointed out that the adjustment of administrative region in Liangxi District had officially entered substantial operation stage, and that the Liangxi District Party Committee and related preparatory groups should earnestly and practically implement decisions and deployments of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee, intensify political consciousness, overall consciousness and responsibility consciousness, elaborately deploy, carefully plan, orderly carry out, vigorously implement, and guarantee smooth and steady propulsion of all work in the adjustment.
