到底
1. 动词，表示“一直到结束、到终点”的意思。例如：
（1）今天我一定陪你逛街逛到底，保证让你买到合适的衣服。
2. 副词，用在疑问句或者带疑问代词的非疑问句中，表示“进一步探究”的意思。不能用于带“吗”的是非疑问句中。例如：
（2）你不是已经买好火车票了吗？你到底怎么打算的呀？
（3）我给他打了好几次电话了，可是一直没人接，也不知道他到底是怎么回事。
3. “到底”用在疑问句或者带疑问代词的非疑问句中时，主语如果是疑问代词，“到底”只能放在主语前。例如：
（4）到底谁去参加比赛，大家还没决定。
（5）每个人都希望自己健康，那么到底什么是健康呢？不同的人有不同的理解。
1. The verb“到底”means “till the end”.For example:
(1) Today i will accompany you to the end of shopping,make sure you buy the right clothes.
2. The adverb“到底”is used in an interrogative sentence or a sentence with an interrogative pronoun,indicating to probe further.It cannot be used in a yes-no question with“吗”.For example:
(2)Don’t you have already bought the train ticket?What the hell are you doing?
(3)I’ve called him several times,but there’s no answer,and i don’t know what’s wrong with him.
3. When used in an interrogative sentence or a sentence with an interrogative pronoun,“到底”should be put before the subject if the subject is the interrogative pronoun.For example:
(4)Exactly who will take part in the contest has not been decided.
(5)Everyone wants to be healthy,so what is health?Different people have different understandings.
