Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway
Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway runs through Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Zhenjiang and Nanjing. It started construction in July 2008, and was put into service on July 1, 2010.
The railway is about 300 kilometers long, with 31 stations; and the maximum speed can reach 350 kilometers per hour. It takes only 73 minutes from Shanghai to Nanjing, 55 minutes from Wuxi to Nanjing, and 34 minutes from Wuxi to Shanghai.
Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway
The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, also called Jinghu high-speed railway, is one of the greatest high-speed railway projects in China. With a total length of 1,318 kilometers, the railway is connected to the Bohai Sea Rim economic zone and the Yangtze River Delta economic zone. This project started construction in April, 2008, and lasted for about 2.5 years. It was completed in October, 2011.
In 2013, Wuxi railway station had delivered 15 million passengers, an increase of 10.2 percent over the previous year (delivering 1.48 million passengers).
